Alexis Brown awarded $2,500 scholarship
Dallas – Metal Supermarkets is honored to award a $2,500 scholarship to Alexis Brown, a student at Texas State Technical College to support her education to pursue a skilled trades career.
The Metal Supermarkets Trade School Scholarship program, now in its 3rd year, helps address the need for more skilled trade workers.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, skilled trades have millions of unfilled positions across the U.S., with as many as 2.5 million more by 2029.
Alexis exemplifies the passionate and talented young professionals that are needed in the valuable skilled trade workforce.
“I’m so thankful for this scholarship which will help me to fully concentrate on my studies and provide me with the opportunity to gain the skills and experience to become a successful welder,” said Alexis.
“As a woman who is soon to be working in a male-dominated field like welding, I hope to inspire people to pursue their dreams and overcome adversities they may encounter in their life.”
Alexis has overcome significant challenges in her life, including the unexpected loss of her mother at age 13.
With her father absent from home, Alexis relocated to Texas to live with her aunt.
She is motivated to respect her parents’ legacy by devoting herself to academic and personal development, leading her to achieve academic excellence.
