FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than books (December 12, 2019)
The Ferris Public Library’s Annual Food for Fines will continue until Dec. 20. In participating in this program, you may clear your account with non-perishable food donations. Here’s how it works; every dollar you have for past due fines, you can gift one can or package of food. This applies to past due fines only; items must be returned to the library. All of the food collected will be given to a local food bank, which will be a win-win for everyone. Your account gets cleared, the library’s records will get cleaned up, and people in our community will benefit. If you’re not sure if you have any past due fines, please feel free to call us at 972-544-3696. Of course, we accept donations from those that are feeling generous during this giving time of year.
Stacey Lankford has set up a holiday book display for both children and adults. The library is adding new Christmas books this year, and we have added several new DVDs as well. Come by for a visit, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy the collection. Not only will you be pleased with the books, but the library has received our annual order of poinsettias from the Ferris ISD, and they are beautiful.
A morning movie matinee will be held on Friday, Dec. 27. We will be showing a newly released PG animated movie, with free popcorn and drinks for all the kids. An adult must accompany all children ages 10 and under.
New Books: “To the Land of Long Lost Friends” (LP) by Alexander McCall Smith, “Cilka’s Journey” by Heather Morris, “The 19th Christmas: Women’s Murder Club” by James Patterson, “Let it Snow” by Nancy Thayer, “Christmas in Winter Hill” by Melody Carlson, “Robert B. Parker’s The Bitterest Pill” by Reed Farrel Coleman, “Permanent Record” (Dewey 327) by Edward Snowden, “Game-Day Eats: 100 Recipes for Homegating Like a Pro” (Dewey 641) by Eddie Jackson, and “Call Sign Chaos: Learning to Lead” (Dewey 956) by General Jim Mattis.
