FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than Books (February 1, 2024)

Join us to celebrate National Take Your Child to the Library Day at Ferris Public Library on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Thousands of libraries across the country celebrate this day by offering free, fun, fabulous activities for families. Any child 16 and younger who visit the library on this day have the option to sign up for a free library card, regardless of their address. The only requirement is that a parent or guardian accompany their child and have a valid ID or driver’s license.

So, stop in for a visit, enjoy the activities, get a library card (they’re free for the kids), meet your library staff, and explore all the wonders that we have to offer your family. Be sure to stop in again soon – because every day is a great day to take your child to the library.

Starting in February and continuing until the end of May, the library will be open until 7 p.m.

Story Time is hosted every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children are treated to stories, fun activities, and a snack. Before leaving, your child may choose a prize from the Treasure Chest to take home.

After-School Game Time is held each Thursday from 3:30 - 5 p.m. Children can play the PS5 on the large screen in the meeting room. Board games are also available!

NEW BOOKS: “The Little Liar” by Mitch Albom, “Alex Cross Must Die” by James Patterson, “Resurrection Walk” by Michael Connelly, “Not Forever, but for Now” by Chuck Palahniuk, and “How to ADHD: An Insider’s Guide to Working with Your Brain (Not Against It)” (Dewey 616) by Jessica McCabe.

BOOK BLURB: “The Little Liar” by Mitch Albom. Beloved bestselling author Mitch Albom returns with a powerful novel of hope and forgiveness that moves from a coastal Greek city during WWII to America in the golden age of Hollywood, as the intertwined lives of three young survivors are forever changed by the perils of deception and the grace of redemption.

The library is located at 301 E. 10th St., across from Mutz Ballpark. Library staff may be reached at ferrislibrary@ferristexas.gov or (972) 544-2110, Option 9.
