FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than Books (July 20, 2023)
Planning a road trip?
The library has an excellent selection of audiobooks that you can pop into your vehicle’s CD player.
Free audiobooks from the Libby app also comes along with your library card. Just checkout an audio on the app & listen via Bluetooth (if available) through your car’s speakers.
Listening to a good story makes the drive more enjoyable and helps pass the time. I highly recommend it for both long and short trips.
Visit the library’s Facebook page to see pictures of all our summer activities, we’ve had a fantastic time.
NEW BOOKS: “Death of a Traitor” by M.C. Beaton, “Homecoming” by Kate Morton, “Sons of Thunder: A Slash and Pecos Western” by William Johnstone, “The Bride Wore White” by Amanda Quick, “My Heart Will Find You” by Jude Deveraux, “The Guns of C.C. Ellis” by Ralph W. Cotton, and “Camera girl: The Coming of Age of Jackie Bouvier Kennedy” (Dewey BIO) by Carl Sferrazza Anthony.
WORD OF THE WEEK: “Odyssey” (AH-duh-see) a long journey full of adventures (noun). Inspired by Jules Verne’s novel, “Around the World in 80 Days”, journalist Nellie Bly undertook an odyssey in 1889 to travel around the world in even less time. Bly traveled alone by ship, train, and rickshaw, and she made it around the world in 72 days.
The library is located at 301 E. 10th St., across from Mutz Ballpark. Library staff may be reached at ferrislibrary@ferristexas.gov or (972) 544-2110, Option 9.
