WORD OF THE WEEK:Verisimilitude” (vair-uh-suh-MILL-uh-tood): the quality of seeming real (noun). Novelist Jane Austen is often considered a master of verisimilitude because she created characters that feel like actual people to her readers. To this day, historians continue searching for real people who may have inspired Austen’s characters because they seem too real to be fictional.

The library is located at 301 E. 10th St., across from Mutz Ballpark. Library staff may be reached at ferrislibrary@ferristexas.gov or (972) 544-2110, Option 9.
