FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than Books (May 18, 2023)
As the Ferris Public Library wraps up the final details for our 2023 Summer Reading Club, we will be printing the schedule and have them placed in the students' end-of-school-year packets.
If your child does not attend a Ferris school, you may pick up a calendar here at the library after May 31. We have some great performers lined up & a weekly Movie Time.
Again, we would like to welcome your donations of books, audiobooks, and DVDs in good condition. These supply the annual library book sale, which brings dollars back in, in support of the library. If you come by and we’re closed, you can just put items in our outside dropbox.
NEW BOOKS: “The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek” and “The Book Woman's Daughter” by Kim Michele Richardson, “The Guest” by Emma Cline, “The 23rd Midnight “ by James Patterson, “The Half Moon” by Mary Beth Keane, “Starry Messenger” (Dewey 532) by Neil deGrasse Tyson, “From Strength to Strength: Finding Success, Happiness, and Deep Purpose in the Second Half of Life” (Dewey 155) by Arthur C. Brooks, and “Life in Five Senses: How Exploring the Senses Got Me Out of My Head and Into the World” (Dewey 152) by Gretchen Rubin.
BOOK BLURB: “The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson”. Inspired by the true blue-skinned people of Kentucky and the brave and dedicated Kentucky Pack Horse library service of the 1930s, The “Woman of Troublesome Creek” is a story of raw courage, fierce strength, and one woman's belief that books can carry us anywhere – even back home.
This is a novel following Cussy Mary, a packhorse librarian and her quest to bring books to the Appalachian community she loves. The perfect addition to your next book club.
