FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than Books (May 2, 2024)

The month of May is “Get Caught Reading Month,” a campaign to remind people of all ages how much fun it is to read.

There’s no better time to dive into a great book and start developing positive reading habits with your children.

“Catch” your child reading by taking photos! Arm yourself with a camera or smartphone and get ready to snap photos of your loved ones buried in a good book.

Send your pictures to ferrislibrary@ferristexas.gov, and we will add them to our Facebook page.

Story Time is hosted every Wednesday from 10:30 – 11 a.m. Children are treated to stories, fun activities, and a snack. Before leaving, your child may choose a prize from the treasure chest.

After-School Game Time is held each Thursday from 3:30 – 5 p.m. Children can play the PS5 on the large screen in the meeting room and board games are also available.

NEW BOOKS: “You Shouldn’t Have Come Here” by Jeneva Rose, “The Summer Book Club” by Susan Mallery, “The Pathway to Success: Letting God Lead You to a Life of Meaning and Purpose” (Dewey 158) by Joyce Meyer, and “American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady, from Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden” (Dewey 973) by Katie Rogers.

BOOK BLURB: “You Shouldn’t Have Come Here” by Jeneva Rose, released 2024. Besties Laurel and Paris are excited to welcome Cassie to the group. This year, the book club is all about fill-your-heart reads, an escape from the chaos of the everyday – running a business, raising a family, juggling a hundred to-dos. Even the dog is demanding (but the bestest boy). Inspired by the heroines who risk everything for fulfillment, Laurel, Paris and Cassie begin to take chances – big chances – in life, in love. Facing an unwritten chapter can be terrifying. But it can be exhilarating, too, if only they can find the courage to change.

The library is located at 301 E. 10th St., across from Mutz Ballpark. Library staff may be reached at ferrislibrary@ferristexas.gov or (972) 544-2110, Option 9.
