FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than Books (September 15, 2022)
This year, National Voter Registration Day is on Sept. 20, 2022, and we’d love for you to join us.
Employees from the Ellis County Elections Department will be at the Ferris Public Library, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., to answer any questions you may have and to assist you with the Voter Registration form if needed.
You must be at least 17 years and 10 months on the date you apply.
Nearly 4.7 million voters across all 50 states have registered to vote on National Voter Registration Day, including 1.5 million in 2020 alone. The registration deadline is Oct. 9, 2022, to be eligible to vote in the upcoming election.
Interested in working at the Election Polls? You can visit the Ellis County Elections Department’s website at co.ellis.tx.us to learn the requirement and qualifications. The application is available online at this site as well to apply for the position.
NEW BOOKS: “Tom Clancy Zero Hour: A Jack Ryan, Jr. Novel” by Don Bentley, “When the Meadow Blooms” (LP) by Ann Gabhart, “Reckoning” by Catherine Coulter, and “Guns of the Greenhorn: A Ralph Compton Western #1” (LP) by Matthew P. Mayo.
WORD OF THE WEEK: “Billingsgate” – coarsely language. Billingsgate was once the name of an actual gate, located in London. It was the site of a fish market. The market was known for the vulgarity of the fishmonger’s speech, so billingsgate became synonymous with abusive and coarse language.
