Meet & Greet held Saturday

FERRIS – Even though the weather was unseasonably cold this past Saturday, did not stop the Ferris City Council candidates being supported by the political action committee called Citizens to Free Ferris from meeting and greeting residents.

The goal; to remind residents to vote on May 4 and make sure they knew the candidate’s positions.

Members of Citizens to Free Ferris were in attendance supporting Place 2 Michael Martinez who is running against Cindy Aspin, Place 3 Tommy Scott who has three opponents including incumbent Bobby Lindsey, John Riley and Rudy Amor, and incumbent Sherie Chapman in Place 5 who is trying to keep her seat against challenger Jennifer Stanford.

Chapman was not in attendance at the event.

One Place 3 challenger, Rudy Amor did take part in the Saturday event however, attending to show his support for the City of Ferris overall.

Political action committee member Len Baxley said, “Thank you to everyone who came out to support Tommy Scott and Michael Martinez. We feel they share our concerns about the current corruption in Ferris government and want to bring about change and take back control for the citizens.”

Music was provided by Samuel Robinson, who sang a variety of songs from gospel, to pop to hip hop and Scott, a barbecue aficionado provided the food.

There will be a second event held by the Citizens to Free Ferris group on April 20 at the Texas Defensive Shooting Academy gun range.

This event is not only a chance for residents to take another chance to meet the candidates, but also to exercise their first and second amendment rights.
