The dynamics of discipleship (part 14)
For there were about five thousand men. Then He said to His disciples, “Make them sit down in groups of fifty.” And they did so, and made them all sit down. Then He took the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. – LUKE 9:14-16
This is our ministry, “Divine Multiplication”.
God expects us to multiply everything He gives us in order to show the world His provision for His people.
We are to multiply the Word, our money and we are to multiply souls for the kingdom.
In the parable of the talents, He gives us an illustration of this as one was given five, another two and still another one and He went on a journey expecting His money to be multiplied on His return. The first two men multiplied their talents but the third didn’t and His Master said, “You wicked lazy slave!” He preceded to tell him that he should have at least put His money in the bank so that it would have accrued interest.
Jesus showed the disciples this principle with the loaves and fishes as He blessed what they had and gave it out and fed five thousand people.
We also have this ministry, to give to live and share what we have with others so that we are truly God’s sons and daughters.
So they all ate and were filled, and twelve baskets of the leftover fragments were taken up by them. – LUKE 9:17
