The dynamics of discipleship (part 22)
When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” – MARK 8:34-37
For one to follow Jesus, one must first be led by the Holy Spirit – and He will always lead us to the cross to die.
The Lord spoke this to me one day about leadership, “For one to lead, one must first be led to lead those he leads to be led.”
That was a profound statement of pure truth and revelation.
When one is saved, the Holy Spirit comes in to renovate His new home and set up shop to do His Father’s business.
Remember, Christ in us. If He is truly in us, He will do the things He did when He was on the earth. We have the mind of Christ and if His mind is in us we will think of those things that He thinks.
This is not rocket science, it is simple gospel truth that a man who is born again actually becomes Christ (anointed one) in the earth, His body, and the expression of Himself.
We are the “Hope of Glory” to a world lost and dying in the darkness of this age, when their only hope of receiving the glory of eternal life is from us to whom Jesus said, GO! This is God’s will for every believer, to lay down his life for the lost and to make disciples.
“For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” – MARK 8:38
