ON THE JOB TRAINING (Part 10)
When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. – MATTHEW 8: 1-3
God’s word is His will, written for us to know what He has given us, but what is not written is to be known by the leading of His Spirit. In other words take healing for instance, it is written that He has healed all of our diseases and by His stripes we are healed. In the above mentioned scripture Jesus shows us His will for healing leprosy, “I am willing; be cleansed.”
Now when it comes to the direction of our lives we are to ask for His will whether we are to move or get a job, marry or anything we need His wisdom in that has to do with our daily lives and the lives of our family. Obeying the leading of the Spirit takes time as we submit ourselves under the Lordship of Christ. Like newborn babes we have to learn to follow our Lord wherever He is leading us.
In order to be led by the Holy Spirit, one must have a solid relationship with God, communing daily in His word and in the Spirit listening for His still small voice and learning to discern His voice above all others.
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. – JAMES 4: 13-16
