ON THE JOB TRAINING (part 33)
“When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind.” – LUKE 14:12,13
Many years ago, not long after I was saved, our church was having communion and a man from the streets that someone brought in saw it sitting on the table and went up and ate and drank it and everyone gasped. To him if you set out food and drink its provision for him and he thought nothing of helping himself, but to religious folks it was appalling.
In my church career I saw many such instances of hypocrisy and downright disdain for the poor and needy which challenged me to go out into the streets and minister to those who were in need. One thing about it there is no shortage of people in need but it takes divine wisdom and discernment to do it right without being taken advantage of.
There were many times I was falsely accused, robbed and slandered for reaching out to folks, some of which were thieves, liars and demonized out to con whoever. The fiasco at our border is an example of how not to do something without wisdom or any knowledge of what they are doing and it will harm thousands and cost America millions for their ignorant policies.
And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just. – LUKE 14:143
