2nd child dies, 2 others in ICU after ATV crash near Waxahachie
WAXAHACHIE – A second boy has died as a result of an ATV crash Sunday near Waxahachie, the Texas Department of Public Safety said Wednesday.
The 14-year-old, identified as Ayden Randle of Waxahachie, was originally taken to a hospital after the collision with a pickup, according to the initial crash report. His brother, 12-year-old Wyatt Randle, also died as a result of the crash. Four others were injured.
The ATV, driven by a 16-year-old girl, ran a stop sign at Boz and Greathouse roads, striking the side of a pickup passing through, according to the report.
“In this incident, the pickup truck had the right of way. The ATV ran a stop sign,” said Sgt. William Lockridge with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The couple in the truck were treated for minor injuries and sent home. The ATV driver and a female passenger, age 14, are still in the intensive care unit but “are doing much better and expected to make a full recovery,” said Lockridge.
