5,400-acre South Creek Ranch for sale
FERRIS – The 5,400-acre ranch, former home of Dallas executive W. Ray Wallace, CEO of Trinity Industries, who died in 2016 is for sale.
One phase of homes has already been constructed and sold in the Woodstone development.
The buyer of the property would have the option to continue development of Woodstone, according to Bernard Uechtritz, owner of Icon, as stated in a press release.
Wallace’s former property sits off Interstate 45 in Ferris, straddling the border of Dallas and Ellis counties, about 25 minutes southeast of downtown Dallas.
The property totals 8.4 square miles.
South Creek Ranch also has ranch headquarters buildings, barns and other homes on the land, which is in Ellis and Dallas counties.
At the heart of the ranch is a gated compound featuring a 23,000-square-foot stone mansion, built in 2000 by Tommy and Cory Ford, overlooking a lake.
The ranch is also home to the Woodstone Development, a 64-acre project that began in May 2020.
Part of the Woodstone development includes seven acres of commercial development along I-45.
“This property ticks all the boxes for smart money land bank and estate planning investment, with interim use, entertainment enjoyment, and existing revenues,” the press release stated.
The ranch is also located along the new Loop 9 corridor. The highway project, under construction, will run along the north border of the ranch. Loop 9 will connect Interstates 35, 45, and 20, and U.S. 175.
The ranch currently runs cattle and produces and sells hay, sand and gravel, according to the Icon listing.
