ARPA approvals, MUD district discussion tabled

WAXAHACHIE – For residents keeping up with the ongoing creation of Municipal Utility Districts the Ellis County Commissioners Court took no action at its recent meeting to direct staff regarding an application for the proposed creation of the Brahman Ranch Municipal Utility District of Ellis County and Johnson County. 

That MUD is set to encompass 438 acres near the intersection of FM 157 and FM2258, Road and Bridge in Precinct No. 4. The Commissioners went into executive session to discuss this item with Ellis County Judge Todd Little reading, 

“This involved consultation with legal counsel regarding pending or contemplated litigation concerning TCEQ matters specifically pending Texas pollutant discharge elimination systems permits and pending petitions for the creation of Municipal Utility District Littles office said. 

“No action was taken on this item. We will likely revisit it soon, but did not elaborate on what the commissioners instructed staff to prepare for the continuation of this item. 

Commissioners also tabled three items regarding the spending of ARP funds in Precincts 1, 3, and 4. Little said there will be further discussion on these items. 

The funds were for the approval of $250,000 for surface transportation projects for the repair of Village Creek Bridge on Novy Road and replacement of culvert and headwall on Shankle Road in response to recent flooding conditions in Precinct 1, approval of $250,000 of ARPA funds for surface transportation projects regarding bridges including Branch Bridge, Morgan Road Bridge, the Cox Road Culvert.

Also, Crosby, Mike, and Holder Road surfaces in response to recent flooding conditions in Precinct 3 and the approval of $250,000 of ARPA funds for surface transportation projects on the Shawnee, Ozro, and Lo Water Road bridges, 

Joe Wilson Road and Buffalo Street Culverts, and Bells Chapel Road surface also in response to recent flooding conditions in Precinct 4.
