Hutchins PD to install Flock Safety cameras

HUTCHINS –  The Hutchins Police Department will be partnering with Flock safety to install eight stationery license plate reader cameras throughout the city.

Hutchins Police Chief Steve Perry said in addition to the Flock cameras installed earlier this year on Lancaster Hutchins Road in partnership with ADESA Auto Auction, the additional cameras will be installed on J.J. Lemon Road, Dowdy Ferry Road, Interstate 45 at Palestine, Wintergreen Road, and on the frontage Road of IH-45 N.

Perry said, “In addition to these stationary cameras, the city will also have three patrol cars coming online in the Fall of 2024 with LPR technology.”

Perry requested these cameras in May for the purpose of investigating crimes, locating missing persons, and apprehending criminals.

In June, the item was presented to the city county as a project for the 24-25 budget year in partnership with Flock safety.

The Hutchins City Council unanimously supported this partnership.

The Flock program will cost $58,000 during two years from the city’s general fund.
