Kidnapping victims used kitchen knife to escape

MIDLOTHIAN – Midlothian Police arrested Noah Solomon Gulzar last week on two counts of aggravated robbery – first degree felony – $250,000 bond each count, two counts of engaging in organized criminal activity with a deadly weapon – first degree felony – $250,000 bond each count, and fraudulent use or possession of identifying information – elderly individual – 3rd degree felony – $250,000 bond each count.

Gulzar, 20, is of middle eastern decent, and his last known addresses are in Red Oak and Ovilla.

The incident began on Monday, Oct. 9, when the Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch Center was contacted by the DeSoto Police Department and informed of a possible kidnapping that may have occurred in the city.

Officers from the Midlothian Police Department responded to the alleged location of the incident, as well as a location in DeSoto to meet with their officers and the victims.

A man and a woman kidnapped in Midlothian earlier this week were able to fight their way out using a kitchen knife, police said.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, DeSoto police notified authorities in Midlothian of a possible kidnapping in the city, according to apolice statement.

Investigators believe three male suspects went to a home in the 5000 block of Vernon Point in Midlothian earlier that same evening.

The three suspects held a 72-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman at gunpoint then took them to a short-term rental property in DeSoto, police said.

They tied up the pair before trying to access their bank accounts, according to police.

Two of the three captors left the short-term rental after “several hours,” and the man and woman were left with one kidnapper, police stated.

The victims were able to loosen their restraints and subdue the remaining kidnapper after retrieving a knife from the home’s kitchen. The victims fled from the home and ran to a neighboring residence where they were able to call 911.

The remaining suspect fled from the DeSoto home before officers arrived.

The victims did sustain minor injuries during their escape.

The suspect sustained significant injuries during the fight, including several defensive knife wounds to his hands and possibly a severe knife wound to his leg.

The investigation is on-going, and the additional two suspects have not been completely identified. If you have information about this case, contact the Midlothian Police Department Criminal Investigations Division by phone at (972) 775-3333 or by email at pd.cid@Midlothian.tx.us
