Local artist to demonstrate oil painting at ECAA meeting

WAXAHACHIE – Mary Rabien, local artist, will be doing a demonstration in oil painting for The Ellis County Art Association at the monthly meeting, March 4 at First Baptist Church of Waxahachie, 450 US 287 ByPass.

Rabien will also be talking about her methods, favorite subjects and goals. The public is encouraged to attend.

Rabien’s background is in technical illustration. She tends to be a detail person by nature, so her goal is to be more painterly. Her childhood interest in horses kindled her first artistic endeavors.

Although she enjoys painting many subjects, birds are her favorite. She puts a great deal of effort in attracting birds to her Waxahachie property.

Her works are in the Fort Worth Adobe Western Art Gallery, the Dove’s Nest (for 20 years) and Farmhouse in Waxahachie.

The meeting at FBC is open to everyone and begins at 6 p.m. with refreshments and socializing.
