MAWS holds advanced water-skiing clinic
RED OAK – Metroplex Adaptive Water Sports held an advanced water-skiing clinic at Pecan Cove in Waxahachie on Saturday, June 18.
Pecan Cove is a private and purposely built water skiing lake near the Waxahachie and Red Oak boundaries.
MAWS is a division of the Southwest Wheelchair Athletic Association, based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
They are a non-profit, volunteer driven organization dedicated to providing opportunities for persons with all types of disabilities to experience water sports. The emphasis is on water skiing, utilizing specialized “sit skis” to provide a safe, enjoyable skiing experience, regardless of the level of disability.
Local volunteers assisted the skiers in and out of the water as needed.
Some of the skiers attend competitions across Texas.
