Police investigating Christmas day murder-suicide in Palmer

PALMER – On Dec. 25, at approximately 7:24 p.m., Palmer officers were dispatched to 241 Poinsettia Dr. in Palmer, Texas, following a report of a male and female found unresponsive with possible gunshot wounds. The call to dispatch was made by a concerned neighbor.

Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals who were deceased.

The female has been identified as Sierra Ashléy Roarx, 31, a resident of Palmer, and the male has been identified as Byron M. Olivere, 55, a resident of Waxahachie.

It has been determined that the two were previously in a relationship.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Olivere shot Ms. Roarx before turning the gun on himself.

Both bodies have been sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation to confirm the details surrounding this incident.
