ROISD receives top award
RED OAK – Red Oak ISD earned the highest form of recognition in the area of budget development and presentation from The Association of School Business Officials International.
The district received the Meritorious Budget Award for excellence in budget presentation with the 2024–2025 budget year – one of under 30 Texas public school districts (just 24 last year) to earn the coveted award.
In addition, ROISD was awarded the ASBO Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting which recognizes districts that have met the program’s high standards for financial reporting and transparency.
The school district earned the Certificate of Excellence for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended 2023.
Both awards will be presented to the board at the November board meeting.
The award was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including a demonstration of financial transparency and clear communication.
This is the fifth year that Red Oak ISD submitted and received this award. Red Oak ISD is by far the smallest ISD in Texas to receive this prestigious award, and the only Ellis County district.
“The preparation of the Meritorious Budget Award document brings together many budget development components to the forefront,” said ROISD Chief Financial Officer, Dr. Bill Johnston.
“The final result is one document that is easy to access and demonstrates the transparency of district operations to all stakeholders to create a better understanding of the budget process as a whole.
“It reflects the district’s commitment to financial integrity and responsible stewardship of taxpayers’ dollars.”
