Suspect arrested in Ellis County hit-and-run fatality
ELLIS COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety has arrested 26-year-old Sandra Maritza Molina, of Ennis, for failure to stop and render aid involving death, a 2nd degree Felony, according to Sgt. William Lockridge.
Reports indicate Alonzo Burrows Jr., 36, of Ennis, was walking in the northeast lane of traffic on FM 1182 around 6:46 p.m. on Feb. 1 when he was struck and killed by a vehicle.
Investigators determined a silver 2006 Toyota Sienna, operated by Molina, was responsible.
Lockridge said Molina then fled the scene and did not report the traffic crash.
Texas DPS says the arrest was made thanks to leads provided by citizens to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office and Ellis County Crime Stoppers.
