T.J. Knight retires

FERRIS – Unity in the Community held a celebration of dedication and service for outgoing long-time Ferris ISD professional T.J. Knight.

Knight served the school district from 2006 to 2024.

His most recent ISD roles before retirement was his move into Interim Ferris ISD Superintendent after outgoing Superintendent James Hartman left the district and prior to the ISD’s hire of its new superintendent in early 2023.

From there Knight moved into the position, which he retired from this month as Ferris ISD’s Director of Operations according to the Ferris ISD website.

Knight held several positions at the Ferris Independent School District prior to those roles including Ferris Junior High Assistant Principal, Ferris Junior High Principal, Director of Assessment and Operations, and Assistant/Deputy Superintendent. 

While Knight was not reached for comment on his retirement, he said previously he loved Ferris ISD and planned to retire there.

In addition to his work with Ferris ISD he also spends time volunteering at his church, St. Michael Catholic Church in Garland, and is an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
