We must know truth

Part 1

To know and understand God, we must first repent and receive the Spirit of God; it is the Spirit of God that brings us into all truth.

Before we can receive from God we must whole heartedly seek God and abide in his righteousness, “But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).

To find God, we must repent with the resolve of turning from sin; we must be cleansed of sin by the blood of Jesus Christ prior to receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit; we cannot receive the Spirit without the blood. “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38).

After receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are able to seek God, receive wisdom, learn and know the will and the ways of God.

To understand God’s ways, we must lay aside man’s teachings that are taught after man’s wisdom and understanding. We must receive the teachings of the Spirit of truth; it is the Spirit that brings us enlightenment as the truth is in God. “Seek the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord” (Isaiah 55:6-8).

Many fail to seek God for fear of being deceived by familiar spirits, while others out of slothfulness fail to seek God having others to seek God for them. When we allow others to seek God for us, we are only deceiving ourselves. God, by the Spirit of truth will not deceive us; considering, what kind of God would allow us to be deceived when we whole heartedly seek Him for truth? “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?” (Matthew 10:8-10)

If we reject truth by rejecting the teachings of the Spirit of truth, we are not only rejecting truth, we are rejecting God and by this rejection we open the door for deception.

If we do not seek the truth of God, if we do not love the truth of God, if we do not abide in the truth of God, if we reject the truth of God, we will not find truth.
