The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed Loop 9, Segment A project to construct a six-lane new location frontage road system between United States Highway 67 (US 67) and Interstate Highway 35E (IH 35E) through Dallas and Ellis counties, Texas. The proposed project passes through the cities of Cedar Hill, Glenn Heights, Ovilla, and Red Oak.
TxDOT will conduct two public meetings to discuss and receive public comments on the proposed project. The meetings will be held at Red Oak Municipal Center, 200 Lakeview Parkway, Red Oak, TX 75154 on Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center, 310 East Parkerville Road, Cedar Hill, TX 75104 on Thursday, February 13,2020 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Both meetings will present the same information and will be held in an open house format with no formal presentation.
The purpose of the public meetings is to present the project studies completed to date and identify relevant issues related to the proposed Loop 9 project as part of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process. These public meetings will provide an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the range of alternatives, environmental constraints and project plans developed to date to be considered and evaluated in the EIS.
The proposed Loop 9, Segment A project is an approximately 9.4-mile proposed new location six -lane roadway within an approximate 600-foot right-of-way. The proposed project right-of-way would include a median that would accommodate the future construction of an ultimate access-controlled mainlane facility. A No-Build Alternative and refined Build Alternatives (Alternative 1, Alternative 2, Alternative 3, and Alternative 4, based on prior public involvement) are being examined.
Maps showing the project’s location, design, and refined alternatives will be available for viewing at the public meetings. Project personnel will also be available to assist in orientation and explanation of the drawings and other materials on hand.
This will also offer the opportunity to ask questions in a one-on-one setting. The public meeting notice, venue map and additional project information are also available online at www.keepitmovingdallas.com under “Public Hearings/Meetings”, www.txdot.gov/inside-txdot/get-involved/about/hearings-meetings.html, and www.txdot.gov/inside-txdot/projects/studies/dallas/loop9.html.
