Article Image Alt Text

The Ferris Public Library will be a voting location on Tuesday, March 2 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the Republican and Democratic Party Primary Election. Ellis County has been approved to use countywide precinct polling locations (Vote Centers). This allows Ellis County registered voters to vote at ANY Vote Center that is convenient for you within Ellis County. You no longer have to vote at your specific precinct on Election Day.

We have the 1040 and 1040-SR forms and instruction books for those who like to go the paper route. Form 1040 has been redesigned, and the 1040-SR has been introduced for use by taxpayers 65 or older. Staff members may also retrieve various forms for you from IRS.gov but are not allowed to help you fill out tax papers. Copies are 10¢ per page. If you prefer to file your taxes online and are not a member of the Ferris Public Library, you may ask for a guest pass. Guest passes are free and are valid for two computer sessions before a library membership is required.

After-School Game Time is every Tuesday from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. for children ages 7 to 17. Children can play Wii and PS4 games on the large screen in our meeting room. Board games are available too.

Story Time is hosted each Wednesday at 11 a.m. for pre-school children and their caregivers. Children are treated to stories, snacks, and activities. At the end of Story Time, each child may pick a toy from the Treasure Chest to take home with them.

New Books: “Sword of Kings: A Saxon Tales Novel” by Bernard Cornwell, “Twisted Twenty-Six” by Janel Evanovich, “Starless Sea” by Erin Morgenstern, “The Family Upstairs” by Lisa Jewell, “The Life and Afterlife of Harry Houdini” (Bio) by Joe Posnanski “Janis: Her Life and Music” (Bio) by Holly George-warren, “Tough Love: My Story of the Things Worth Fighting For” (Bio) by Susan Rice, and “Touched by the Sun: My Friendship With Jackie” (Bio) by Carly Simon.

Sayings and Origins: “Elvis has left the building” is a phrase that was often used to announce the conclusion of an Elvis Presley concert to discourage the audience from lingering, hoping for an encore. It has since become a catchphrase and punchline.
