FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than books (July 2, 2020)
The Ferris Public Library’s Virtual Summer Reading Club has been receiving positive feedback from our patrons. We do miss our traditional in-person summer programs, and we miss seeing our younger patrons’ enjoyment as they learn new things and get creative with craft time. I’m pleased that so many are taking advantage of the virtual shows. Links are posted on the library’s Facebook page weekly, along with DIY activities. Critterman Dave’s Texas Safari is another link we have shared on the library’s Facebook page. Critterman will do a follow-up video to answer questions about the animals. Watch his program and you tell us what you want to ask him by calling the library at 972-544-3696; send an email to kathyharrington@ferristexas.gov or text to 972-904-1788. Please submit all your questions by Wednesday, July 8. I’m looking forward to Critterman making a special show just for your questions!
Become a Fan of the library on Facebook, and you’ll receive notifications as we post events.
Every Tuesday, you can visit the Ferris Public Library and pick up a free Grab & Go Activity Bag that has a craft and projects for your youngsters to do at home. The Grab & Go Bags have included activities for animals, dragons, magic, science, and more to come!
The Ferris Public Library’s new hours are Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.; closed Friday – Sunday. We have new safety protocols to keep everyone healthy. A COVID-19 Prescreening form must be filled out by every visitor, a temperature check, face coverings required, hands sanitized or washed, and observe a 6-foot distancing guideline. A minor inconvenience but well worth it for our citizens’ safety. We are cleaning computers after each use and disinfecting common areas, and door handles often. The city has facilities professionally sprayed with virus disinfectant weekly.
