ON THE JOB TRAINING (part 24)

“When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.” – MATTHEW 13:19

The wayside is that place outside the field that is being sown or the ditch on the side of the narrow road of which I have been in both. Today there are many outsiders who never quite get in the kingdom or hear the word so as to be truly saved.

Have you ever been sitting in church listening to a message and then all of a sudden you realize you haven’t really heard anything the preacher has said? Well that’s the enemy stealing the word out of your heart – and at times it happens to everyone. Problem for most, it happens all the time because they are not on the alert and their hearts are hard and they are dull of hearing.

This is why we are to take every thought captive, especially when we are listening to the word lest the devil steal it. Be sober, be on the alert, always being vigilant so that the powers of darkness don’t overtake you and steal the words right out of your heart.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” – I PETER 5:8-11
