The dynamics of discipleship (part 48)
“With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, with her flattering lips she seduced him. Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks.” – PROVERBS 7:21,22
Impulsiveness is a curse I have lived with and have to fight off with the word of God and by taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
In other words, think before you act and look at what the outcome will be?
David – although a mighty warrior – was an emotional man with a gift of praise and worship and inside that rough exterior was a tender heart.
Being impulsive throws all caution to the wind when the lust for sexual pleasure takes over a person’s heart.
All alone on his balcony with no one watching, the devil poured his deadly diatribe of excuses and justifications into David’s mind causing him to act without thinking of the consequences.
The point of no return is when thoughts turn to action and desire is out of control and the body reacts and then it is too late.
Trapped like a wild beast, David was seduced by demons and fell for the devil’s scheme to bring him down and David fell for it, hook, line and sinker.
A man after God’s own heart was suddenly brought down into a cloud of darkness and deceit, caught in the snare of the trapper.
“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” – JAMES 1:14,15
