The miracles of Jesus (part 10)

And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. For she said to herself, “If I may touch the hem of His garment, I shall be made well.” – Matthew 9:20,21

The word hem means fringe, tassel or the border of a garment. God told the children of Israel to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations so that when they would look upon them it would remind them of His commandments.

Under the law of Moses, a woman with a discharge was unclean and unable to touch anyone including her husband if she had one. The woman in the scripture was desperate to be healed because if she touched anyone, they would become unclean also. There is much meaning in the hem of His garment and the woman knew that if she could just touch it, she would be healed.

We too can be healed by our faith in the Lord Jesus knowing that He healed all who came to Him even when a lowly woman touched the hem of His garment. So, reach out in the Spirit and touch Him because He loves you and will answer your prayer.

Jesus turned around, and when He saw her, He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter, your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour. – Matthew 9:22
