FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than books (August 24, 2023)

Story Time for preschool children is held every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children are treated to stories, fun activities, and a snack. Before leaving, your child may choose a prize from the Treasure Chest to take home.

After-School Game Time for ages 7 through 17 is held every Thursday from 3:30 – 5 p.m. Kids may play the PS5 on the large screen and for those that like board games, we have those as well.

NEW BOOKS: “Zero Days” by Ruth Ware, “Flags on the Bayou” by James Lee Burke, “The Spectacular” by Fiona Davis “Hopefully Ever After” by Beth Wiseman, and “Steady, Calm, and Brave: 25 Buddhist Practices of Resilience and Wisdom in a Crisis” (Dewey 158) by Kimberly Brown. 

WORD OF THE WEEK: “Serendipity” (sair-un-DIP-uh-tee): luck that takes the form of finding valuable or pleasant things that are not looked for (noun).

A New York family became millionaires overnight through pure serendipity. The family bought a five-inch bowl for three dollars at a garage sale. It turns out the bowl was made in China’s Northern Song dynasty in the tenth century. The family later sold the bowl for over $2.2 million.
