WAXAHACHIE – DJ Bailey threw three touchdown passes – two in the second half – and DeSoto’s defense made critical halftime adjustments as the defending Class 6A Division II state champion pulled away late to beat Waxahachie 56-35 at Lumpkins Stadium.
DeSoto (4-0, 2-0) overcame 15 penalties for 145 yards and remained tied with Duncanville – ranked No. 7 nationally by MaxPreps – and Mansfield for first place in District 11-6A.
