Ellis County MUDs controversy continues

Residents of Ellis County, where proposed MUD districts are planned, are protesting many of these developments in unincorporated Ellis county.  

MUDS, though legal, have raised the concerns of citizens living near where developers propose to build. 

MUD districts allow the developers to recoup their cost of installing streets and utilities without raising taxes on cities or county property owners.

This particular meeting will be on the proposed Risinger Road and I-45 location, in reference for a TPDES permit for Municipal Wastewater treatment facility.

This would be for a proposed 1,000 plus mobile home development. 

The controversy that many in the area are concerned about stems from where all of the treated wastewater would be discharged.  

As most residents living in the area are aware, Brushy Creek and Red Oak Creek are on FEMA’s Floodplan maps and both flood closing both southbound and northbound frontage roads.
