Cedar Hill man arrested in Ennis homicide last week

ENNIS – Cedar Hill resident, Bryant Carnell Whitehead, 49 turned himself in late last week to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a shooting March 24 in the 1200 block of Grace Circle in Ennis. 

Whitehead was the lead suspect in the shooting. 

Witnesses said Whitehead and the victim were in an argument outside a Grace Circle residence when Whitehead pulled out a handgun and shot a 55-year-old  man from Rice. The victim was found unresponsive when officers arrived, and was announced dead at the scene.

Dallas Police Department Violent Crime Task Force, the US Marshall Service, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department, and the Texas Rangers of the Texas Department of Public Safety all assisted Ennis in their efforts with the homicide investigation.
