Ellis County Back-to-School Bashes

ELLIS COUNTY – As parents are readying their children for back-to-school, cities in the area are having upcoming Back-to-School Bashes to help alleviate some of the expense of students returning to the classroom.

ENNIS

Ennis ISD’s Back to School event will be held Saturday, Aug. 3 from 8 to 11 a.m. at Ennis High School, 2301 Ensign Road. 

The event is for all students’ grades PreK-12th and no pre-registration required. Provided at no cost will be:

1. New Backpacks School supplies (Ennis ISD supply list)

2. Ennis Spirit Shirts 

3. Age-Appropriate Books

4.  On site hair cuts

5. Health Screenings,

6. Family Photos

7. Face Painting

8. Garage Giveaway – new and gently used clothing, furniture, appliances and so much more.

FERRIS

Ferris ISD’s Back-to-School Fair will be held Saturday, July 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ferris High School, 1025 E. 8th Street. Highlights will include school registration, school supplies, vendors, immunizations, and more.

MIDLOTHIAN

Midlothian Mayor’s Back-to-School Bash is on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Frank Seale Middle School, 700 George Hopper Road.

Presented by Midlothian Community Development Corporation, Manna House, and other local organizations and businesses, this event welcomes MISD students back to school with school supply kits, haircuts, fun activities, information, and more. 

No pre-registration is required. School supply kits are available to any Midlothian ISD student while supply lasts.

RED OAK

Red Oak ISD’s Annual Back to School Bash will be held Monday, July 29 in two sessions; 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., and 4 to 6 p.m. at Red Oak Middle School, 154 Louise Ritter Blvd. 

Eligible families MUST pre-register and district staff will review registration and eligibility.

Parents will need to bring their photo ID for verification. 

Pre-registration will be first come, first served; limited to the 500 elementary and 500 secondary sets of a backpack with supplies. 

Students do not need to be present to pre-register but MUST be the ones to redeem the pre-registration voucher for the backpack and supplies on Saturday, Aug. 3. 

Adults will not be given backpacks/supplies.

WAXAHACIE

Waxahachie ISD will host its annual Back to School Bash in partnership with the City of Waxahachie, the Downtown Merchants Association, and several loyal business and non-profit partners to kick off a great new school year. 

Free hotdogs, cold drinks, and snacks will be served. 

Community partners, WISD librarians, and student groups (including the WHS band, Charmers, cheerleaders, and athletic teams) will provide games and activities for families to enjoy. 

The Back-to-School Bash is held annually at the Railyard Park on the Saturday of Tax-Free weekend in August.

WILMER

Wilmer’s Back-to-School Bash will be held Thursday, Aug. 8, from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at EBJ Stem Academy, 201 S. Goode Road in Wilmer.
