Commissioners approve reimbursement program for NHRA Fall Nationals
WAXAHACHIE – The National Hot Rod Association has confirmed its selection of Ellis County as its chosen location for the October 2024 event, the 2024 NHRA Fall Nationals, which will be held at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis.
During a recent commissioner’s court meeting, the commissioners were tasked with providing a letter of endorsement for the Major Events Reimbursement Program for the Fall Nationals.
Ellis County Judge Todd Little said the reimbursement program is offered though the Texas Governor’s office.
This year the “anticipation in a 10-day period of time will be $394 million spent in Ellis County as a result of this event” Little explained.
He also said the positive tax event is estimated to be $14,227, adding the NHRA Fall Nationals is the “Superbowl of drag racing.”
The commissioners approved this reimbursement item unanimously.
