FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than Books (September 19, 2024)
Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate Mexican Independence Day at the library this week! We had a fantastic turnout, and we’re grateful to Mariachi Lindo Tejas and Pamela’s Creativity Face Painting for their contributions. Follow us on Facebook to see all the photos from this awesome event.
PRE-K STORY TIME is hosted every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children are treated to stories, fun activities, and a snack. Before leaving, your child may also choose a prize from the treasure chest to take home.
AFTER-SCHOOL GAME TIME is held each Thursday from 3:30 – 5 p.m. in the library meeting room! Attendees can play the PS5 on the large screen or board games are also available.
NEW BOOKS: “If Something Happens to Me” by Alex Finlay, “Coldwater Range” by John D. Nesbitt, “You Like It Darker” by Stephen King, “Too Late” by Colleen Hoover, and “Bits and Pieces” (Dewey BIO) by Whoopi Goldberg.
WORD OF THE WEEK: “Contented” (kun-TEN-tud) – happy and satisfies: showing or feeling contentment (adjective). When cats are contented, they often make a low, vibrating sound called purring. Scientists are still not sure how cats produce a purr. But they’ve found that some larger cats, like cheetahs and bobcats, also make a purring sound.
The library is located at 301 E. 10th St., across from Mutz Ballpark. Library staff may be reached at ferrislibrary@ferristexas.gov or (972) 544-2110, Option 9.
