3rd Annual RFR Car Show Oct. 5

FERRIS – Everyone loves a car show, and this weekend the Robert F. Rodriguez Leadership Foundation will be hosting its 3rd annual scholarship benefit with a free car show at Mutz Memorial Park.

The benefit is from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, and will also include a mobile blood drive, silent and live auctions, a live band and DJ, a bake sale and barbecue plate sale, a raffle, bounce houses for the children and more.

The Robert F. Rodriguez Leadership Foundation was established in 2022 in honor of Robert F. Rodriguez, who moved to Ferris in the early 1990s and was a leader in the community and in the classrooms at Ferris High School, according to RFRleadershipfoundation.com.

“Roberts’ faith and his desire to serve others continued to guide his decisions into adulthood as he began his professional career in the custom cabinet industry that lasted over 27 years.

“He began his career as a helper where he was once again mentored and taught how to serve his coworkers,” the website explains.

Rodriguez died unexpectedly on Oct. 8, 2021, but, “His lasting impact inspired the creation of the Robert F. Rodriguez Leadership Foundation.”

The foundation’s goal is to mobilize and empower future leaders by means of academic scholarships, leadership development, and service based opportunities.

The money raised at the benefit Saturday goes to fund this purpose.
