City of Ferris honors its two fallen officers
FERRIS – On Sunday, Oct. 6, the City of Ferris honored its two fallen officers at the Fallen Officer Memorial with words from Jesus Mancillas, Director of the Department of Public Safety, Deputy City Manager John DeLeon and Jeff Aaron.
Officer Harry Marvin Steinfeldt died in the line of service on Oct. 6, 2002, while responding to a fight at a gas station in Ferris.
Constable James Ben Wicker was killed in the line of duty on Oct. 10, 1962, of gunshot wounds after responding to a call at a café in Ferris.
A bagpipe performance and song “How Great Thou Art” ended the memorial service attended by department of public safety employees, city council, city staff and community members.
