FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than Books (November 7, 2024)
Each year on Nov. 11, Americans pause to honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
Veterans Day is marked by parades, ceremonies, and moments of silence across the country. More than just a holiday, Veterans Day stands as a reminder of the enduring commitment of those who have answered the call of duty and served with honor.
The American Veterans Traveling Tribute (Vietnam Traveling Wall) will be in Waxahachie from Nov. 7-9, 2024. The indoor Vietnam Traveling Wall with other era panels will be exhibited in the Waxahachie Civic Center, ballrooms 3 & 4 and will be open to the public and free of charge!
Save the Date for the Ellis County Veterans Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Enjoy a musical tribute ceremony with the Classic Swing Band, the Reveille Sisters, and singers Fletcher Jowers, Brian Johnson and Casey Needham; followed by a memorial service and a military style flyover!
The Classic Swing Band begins playing at 9:30 a.m. and the ceremony starts promptly at 10.
STORY TIME is hosted every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children are treated to stories, fun activities, and a snack. Before leaving, your child may choose a prize from the treasure chest to take home.
AFTER-SCHOOL GAME TIME is held each Thursday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Children can play the PS5 on the large screen in the meeting room, board games are also available.
