FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than Books (November 14, 2024)
Mickey Mouse’s birthday is celebrated each year on Nov. 18. From a whistling boat captain in black and white, to the full color Sorcerer’s Apprentice in Fantasia, Mickey has captivated the world with his charm and his antics.
Celebrate Mickey Mouse’s birthday by reliving fond memories and making new ones with loved ones! Visit the library to find books, movies, and coloring pages featuring our favorite Disney mouse. Bake some fun Mickey-themed treats or throw a Mickey Mouse party to celebrate!
STORY TIME is hosted every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children are treated to stories, fun activities, and a snack. Before leaving, your child may choose a prize from the treasure chest to take home.
AFTER-SCHOOL GAME TIME is held each Thursday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Children can play the PS5 on the large screen in the meeting room, board games are also available.
NEW BOOKS: “The Forest of Lost Souls” by Dean Koontz, “One Big Happy Family” by Susan Mallery, “Backwater Justice” by Fern Michaels, “The God of the Woods” by Liz Moore, and “Good Lookin’ Cookin’: A Year of Meals” (Dewey 641) by Dolly Parton.
FUN FACTS OF THE WEEK: Mickey’s first words – “Hot Dog!” – were also the first words spoken by an animated character. Mickey Mouse only has four fingers because, according to Walt Disney, five fingers looked like “a bunch of bananas.” Disney himself voiced Mickey Mouse for about 18 years. Your height must be between 4’8” and 5’2” to become a Mickey Mascot at Disney.
The library is located at 301 E. 10th St., across from Mutz Ballpark. Library staff may be reached at ferrislibrary@ferristexas.gov or (972) 544-2110, Option 9.
