First Annual All Ellis County All Star Volleyball Game lives up to the hype

MIDLOTHIAN – Witnessing this much talent in one gym just doesn’t happen very often – if at all.

The first annual All Ellis County All Star Volleyball Game rosters had some of the best Ellis County High School volleyball players listed on the rosters – and it lived up to the hype.

The contest was held at the “The Old Gym” Midlothian Historic Gymnasium Project in Midlothian on Thursday Dec. 5, 2024.

The game was put together by Travis Smith with Ellis County Sports – with the help of many volunteers, including several of the area Head HS Volleyball Coaches.

The event was sponsored by Methodist Midlothian Medical Center, Kraken Kreations, Magers Excavation, Zeal Dance Force, Elite Diesel Pros, Bluebonnet BBQ and Citizens National Bank, and all in partnership with The Waxahachie Sun.

The teams were divided into the East and West All Stars, with I-35E basically the dividing line.

The East squad consisted of players from Ennis, Ferris, Life Waxahachie, Palmer and Red Oak.

The West team was made up of players from Avalon, Italy, Maypearl, Midlothian, Midlothian Heritage, Milford and Ovilla Christian.

Despite mixed squads on the court, the games did not disappoint. Except for game 3, the difference in scores was 4 points or less.

The West squad eventually won the contest 3-1.

It was clear to see why most of these student athletes were named 1st Team All District, 2nd Team All District and honorable mention in their respective districts and classifications.

Congratulations to all the players for their selection to the All-Star rosters.
