FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than Books (February 20, 2025)
Looking for your next favorite book? Well, look no further! Our librarian has handpicked some of the hottest new releases hitting our shelves this month. Whether you're into thrillers, romances, westerns, or non-fiction, we've got something for every reader. Check out our new release bookshelves and let us help you pick out a new story today! Also, don’t forget to stop by through the end of the month and take part in our scavenger hunt highlighting influential figures in Black History.
Our weekly STORY TIME, held every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., is a great way to introduce toddlers & preschoolers to other kids their age. Each session features three books read aloud, and either a simple craft that correlates to the theme that week or a hands-on game. These activities allow children to develop social skills, expand their vocabulary, and nurture a love for reading. If you haven’t stopped by, I encourage you to drop in on one of our Story Time events and see how much your child loves it.
AFTER-SCHOOL GAME TIME is held each Thursday from 3:30 – 5 p.m. Children can play the PS5 on the large screen in the meeting room and board games are also available.
NEW BOOKS: “Where the Heart Should Be” by Sarah Crossan, “A Language of Dragons” by S.F. Williamson, “From Here to the Great Unknown” (Dewey BIO) by Lisa Marie Presley, and “1001 Crystals: The Complete Book of Crystals for Every Purpose” (Dewey 133) by Cassandra Eason.
BOOK BLURB: “From Here to the Great Unknown” by Lisa Marie Presley, released October 2024. Born to an American myth and raised in the wilds of Graceland, Lisa Marie Presley tells her whole story for the first time in this raw, riveting, one-of-a-kind memoir faithfully completed by her daughter, Riley Keough. This extraordinary book is written in both Lisa Marie’s and Riley’s voices, a mother and daughter communicating – from this world to the one beyond – as they try to heal each other. Profoundly moving and deeply revealing, “From Here to the Great Unknown” is a book like no other – the last words of the only child of an American icon.
The library is located at 301 E. 10th St., across from Mutz Ballpark. Library staff may be reached at ferrislibrary@ferristexas.gov or (972) 544-2110, Option 9.
