DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE: Texas Legislative Session #88 left a lot to be desired
This week’s Down the Rabbit Hole is going to be about issues a little closer to home, as in Texas.
What exactly did the Texas 88th Legislative Session for 2023 accomplish by the time it ended its regular session on May 29.
NOT TOO MUCH
I had a chat with State Representative Brian Harrison from Ellis County’s District 10, about what did and didn’t get taken too seriously during the regular session and we can only hope that some of the major issues going on in our state can be addressed in the special session happening now.
First, and this must be a shock no matter what side of the aisle you sit on, did you know that employers throughout Texas, and pretty much all healthcare entities, still ridiculously require COVID-19 vaccines for employment.
I had no idea. I mean come on, it’s like unless you are living under three rocks, a faraday bag and are deaf, dumb, and blind you know that the vaccine has been linked to many, many, many deaths since its inception.
An AP factchecker article attempted to debunk this information (remember AP News can be linked back to BlackRock, Vanguard, and State Street) when it stated that Dallas Cardiologist Peter McCullough gave misleading facts claims on social media about death falsely identified as having been caused by the COVID-19 vaccines.
“The vaccine is killing people,” McCullough said in a video on Instagram clipped from a podcast where he appeared.
“And it’s killing large numbers of people.
“Our CDC, as of Dec. 23, 2022, has over 16,000 Americans that have died within a few days of taking the vaccine and that’s probably a gross underreport.”
That was said to be untrue, but if you have been paying attention you know the truth.
According to a press release from Harrison, “Without a state law banning these mandates, Texans have no protection and will continue to be fired if not vaccinated.”
TEXAS, SERIOUSLY?
“The Texas senate passed a bill to ban COVID mandates, but the Texas house leadership chose to protect the COVID mandates by keeping the bill from even being debated on the floor,” Harrison explained.
“So, people are shocked to learn that COVID mandates are alive and well in the state of Texas.”
Can those lawmakers who are still drinking the COVID Kool-Aid please wake up.
Talking to Representative Harrison recently he outlined a few other biggies the Texas Legislature overlooked to the horror of Texans during the regular session.
“The reality is Texas deserved and expected us to do a lot more for them to make sure that Texas does not become California,” Harrison said.
“For example, border security, we did not get that done and the taxpayer fund lobby we didn’t get passed.”
There was also the situation where foreigners (specifically Chinese nationals) have taken a liking to buying up land in Texas.
If you know anything about this matter you just might wonder why and what can we do about it.
“Have fun going over and trying to buy property in China and let me know how that goes for you,” Harrison said.
Texas also missed out big time on doing enough to reform the state’s energy market and they didn’t rein in the governor’s emergency executive powers.
Bottom line, all the major items that the Texas legislature chose not to address should have been no-brainers.
I mean, we aren’t California after all and Republicans have overwhelming majorities in all the government offices and the house and the senate, the governor, the Lt. governor, so how in the world?
It’s time our Texas lawmakers paid attention to the reason they are there or move out of the way so someone else can do the job that is required.
